Amphibian

June 27, 2009

Amphibian was developed as an aid for lifeguards patrolling the beaches. Comprising of beach shoes and extendable fin modules, the set is meant to help the rescue worker swim up faster towards the victim.

It has a unique retractable system that allows you to keep the modules retracted till you reach the waters.

On the way back, after the rescue, a simple jab of the toes on the seabed, retracts the modules once again.

Her cutting edge, distinct shoe designs offer an alternative to existing design languages and typologies. They have a design language that is built on clean lines, materials, and construction techniques that are closer to design and architecture than women’s fashion.
“I’m interested in designing objects that ignore or challenge conventions in order to make the product-design world less generic,” says the London-based designer. “l rethink what an object can look like or how it can function. There can be more to clothes.”

Lamborghini Superleggera Pumps

February 15, 2009

“Based on the design of the defunct Gallardo Superleggera, these pumps are pretty well thought-out, right down to the carbon fiber stilettos holding up the back. As a curious distraction, these make for some funny footwear.
Designed by Modo illustrator Tim Cooper as a potential product from Tonino Lamborghini.”

KickIt! Shoe Rack

December 16, 2008

Designed based on people’s observed behavior, this is a very innovative idea. It will get dirty really fast and hard to clean but the idea is there.

Nat-2 Shoes

August 8, 2008

This reminded me of the swatch shoes once upon a time, where you can unzip the top portion to change to a new colour of pattern. Same theory, same mechanics.
The Nat-2 design looks like a regular pair of canvas shoes, similar to popular designs by the Converse brand. But when you want to give your feet a bit of fresh air you can unzip the sole to reveal a pair of sandals.
The only place selling them for now is in Britain is Wild Goose, in Twickenham, South-West London, where you can pick up a pair for £59.99.

Nike’s newest creation is crafted almost entirely of carbon fiber. It took Nike three years to design and produce this version of the Vapor. The outsole plate is seven layers of carbon composite material interwoven with TPU and polyurethane. This eliminates the lasting board and puts the foot closer to the ground. A reinforcing rib offers support. The cleats and stud tips are injected molded to the plate for a strong, single outsole piece, which creates incredible durability. An internal heel cradle keeps your foot securely in place. Weigh 6.7 oz and made in Italy.
