Quartz Tele

June 22, 2007

It seems in regard to electronic design, touchscreens are in and anything tactile is out. Tao Ma sees it the other way around. The Quartz Tele concept uses large quartz crystals for each numeric number on a dial pad. Below each crystal is an embedded LED. Pressing each crystal illuminates it like a transformer’s energon cube. They all sit on a base with a sharp LED screen that displays pertinent information like incoming calls, dates, and contacts.

Oilflask can be used either as a flacon containing massage oil or a device for actual massage. Oilflask is an excellent support for any hand massage to be handled by exercising gentle pressure and circular movements. The surface is not only suitable for relaxing tense muscles but also helps to avoid falling off when put down somewhere.

Playground Fence

June 20, 2007

Dutch designer Tejo Remy’s re-interpreted playground fence brought a new interpretation to a vernacular form (the materials may not have been reused, but the language and application was certainly reused and re-invented). In the charming “Playground Fence”, not only are the protrusions and recessions of the fence eye-catching, but they allow for a more active interaction between those on either sides of the fence, providing seats, benches, nooks and playspaces for children.
It seems more useful than the fence we have here… with most people using it as a 10 meter dash and low jump across the road.
